Soup for the Souls Inspires Great Discussion

Farmer Angel Network Board Members, Brenda Statz and Christy Wehler, joined a panel of local advocates bringing awareness to mental health. First Presbyterian Church, Baraboo, WI, sponsored the event as part of their mental health series and opened it to the community for a light meal of delicious homemade soups, sides and desserts. There was a great turnout of 47 community members interested in discussion about mental health topics.

As a part of the panel discussion, Brenda introduced Farmer Angel Network's mission and Christy shared her experience living with depression and anxiety. The panel included representatives from Baraboo and Sauk Prairie schools and Sauk County Health Department. Open discussion followed the panel with participants.

One panelist, Chuck Murphree, is an author and blogger from Prairie du Sac. He shared his own experience overcoming childhood trauma and his living with depression and anxiety. His passion for helping young people navigate through mental illness and the often-rocky journey through adolescence is demonstrated in his young adult novels, Somewhere Between the Trees and Clouds and Everything That Makes Us Feel. Thank you to the First Presbyterian Church's Outreach Committee for making this possible!
