The folks creating a documentary, “The Untold Story of the American Dairy Farmer” stopped by to interview Dorothy Harms, co-founder of the Farmer Angel Network (FAN).
This documentary, led by Robin Fitch of Litchfield, NY, and filmed in partnership with Main Street Drone Videographers, LLC, is all about lifting up the voices of dairy farm families. Robin, who’s a farmer’s wife herself, knows the struggles firsthand.
“They work 365 days a year, and they love what they do, but there are struggles and challenges that most people don’t see,” Robin said in a recent Farmshine interview. “We want to bring their voices forward and bring this to the average person.”
Dorothy and Robin sat down at Dorothy's Valley Springs Farm Bed & Breakfast. Harms shared that her family have transitioned from dairy into beef farming with a bed and breakfast. But that’s not all she shared.
Dorothy opened up about the Farmer Angel Network, a grassroots effort she helped start in Wisconsin to support farmers dealing with stress and mental health challenges. It’s a powerful initiative that’s making a difference—and honestly, it’s something that could be a game-changer if started in other farming communities too.
The film is expected to be released in August 2025, and it’s shaping up to be something truly special. Huge thanks to Robin, Dorothy, and the production crew for making this happen.
Stay tuned, folks. This one’s going to be worth watching.
