Community Events, Trainings & Ways to Connect

Farming can feel isolating—but it doesn’t have to be.

There are more opportunities than you might think to connect with other farmers, learn new tools, and find support from people who understand what this life is really like.

Some are quick trainings.

Some are gatherings.

Some are just a place to show up and not feel alone.

If you’ve been meaning to get out, learn something new, or just be around people who get it—this is a good place to start.

🌱 Why connection matters

A lot of stress in agriculture builds quietly.

You keep going. You handle what needs to be handled. You don’t always talk about it.

But being around others—whether it’s a training, a walk, or a simple event—can:

  • Break isolation

  • Give you practical tools

  • Help you recognize signs in yourself or others

  • Remind you that you’re not the only one carrying a load

You don’t have to share your story to benefit. Just showing up matters.

📅 Upcoming events & trainings

Here are some opportunities coming up in our region and online:

🧠 Suicide Prevention Trainings

🌾 Community Events & Gatherings

Clara Alice Faye Foundation's Spring Social – Megan Haag Keynote (April 25): An opportunity to hear from a woman farmer and keynote speaker, connect with others who care about mental health and community.

2026 Sauk County Pasture Walks (Starting May 2): Get out on the land, connect with other farmers, and learn in a hands-on setting.

🚶 Support & Awareness Events

Juneau County Mental Health Awareness & Suicide Prevention Walk (May 9): A simple way to show up for mental health—your own or someone else’s—and be part of something bigger.

🛠️ Skill Building & Ongoing Support

Building Connections to Reduce Anxious & Depressed Thoughts (Series starting April 6): Gain knowledge & coping skills to increase connection and to decrease symptoms of anxiety/depression; each session will offer a group discussion with key questions

Grief We Carry and Roles We Inherit: Mental Wellness in Rural Families (April 14): Explores generational loss, sudden change, and the realities of carrying both grief and responsibility in rural life.

🤝 Ongoing Support Groups & Community Connections

NAMI Wisconsin Peer Support Group (April 9): A space for individuals living with mental health challenges to connect with others who understand.

Project WisHope Sauk County Community Center April Calendar: Support for individuals and families in recovery.

👍 Not sure where to start?

Start with something simple.

  • Pick one event that fits your schedule

  • Invite a friend or neighbor

  • Or just show up and listen

You don’t need to commit to everything. One small step is enough.
