Ever wonder what FAN volunteers actually do?
They’re out there every day making a difference in big and small ways:
Chatting one-on-one with fellow farmers
Sharing tips and tools to help through tough times
Connecting folks to mental health and wellness resources
Handing out treats, smiles, and FAN swag at local events
Speaking up for farmer mental health — locally and beyond
Behind every handshake, listening ear, and helping hand… there’s a FAN volunteer.
Here’s a peek at what they’ve been up to this past month:
Community Conversation on Farm Transitions
FAN co-founder Dorothy Harms joined a grassroots discussion focused on the challenges farmers face when transitioning their farms. She continues to be a strong voice for our farming community.

Inga Orth's Fall Farm Event in Osseo, WI
Sandy Kracht and Dorothy Harms helped out at a partner event hosted by Inga Orth. Inga held a silent auction to benefit FAN, and our volunteers were there with a booth and resources. WEAU 13 News even stopped by for an interview!

On the Air with Civic Media
FAN board members Brenda Statz, Dorothy Harms, and Christy Updike joined The Maggie Daun Show for a live interview at Reisinger Hilltop Farm. They talked about farming, family, and how to face change together. The conversation highlighted the importance of mental health support in farming communities.

Donating Bench to the Garden of Angels
FAN held their monthly meeting at the Garden of Angels, Portage, WI and donated a bench to the garden. The meeting kicked off with a dedication of the bench. See more info at the blog: Bench for the Garden of Angels

At FAN, every volunteer matters. Whether they’re organizing events, lending a listening ear, or simply showing up with homemade goodies and a warm smile — they’re the heart of our network.
Their kindness, dedication, and love for the farming community inspire us every day. From behind-the-scenes planning to real, personal connections, FAN volunteers bring hope and strength to farmers across Sauk County and beyond.
Let’s give a big THANK YOU to all our amazing volunteers! 💚
